Privacy Notice
What stays on your device, what a shared pilot sends to us, and the choices you have.
Last updated October 11, 2026Who This Notice Covers
This notice describes the HouseShift website, public demo, and approved early-access pilots. HouseShift is a project created by Brian and Teryn in Mystic, Connecticut. For workplace information entered by a restaurant, the restaurant decides what to collect and who may see it; HouseShift provides the tools and processes shared information to operate the service. Your restaurant may have additional workplace privacy policies.
The Public Demo Stays on Your Device
Demo assignments, schedules, staff records, notes, profile photos, and other changes are saved in your browser or app storage. Demo snapshots and exported backups also remain on your device unless you choose to share or upload them. Signing out of the demo does not erase these records. Clearing browser or app data can permanently remove them.
The demo’s sample sign-in is a role selector, not a private account. Anyone with access to the same device or browser profile may be able to view its saved information. Use sample data. Demo content is not automatically uploaded to the shared restaurant backend.
Information in an Approved Shared Pilot
When shared access is explicitly enabled, we process account and membership information, such as email address, name, role, and restaurant; restaurant work records, such as assignments, scheduled hours, completion and release history, updates, and handoffs; and photos, videos, or voice recordings that users choose to upload. This includes recovery copies and backups uploaded for import.
Your information may be visible to authorized staff and managers at your restaurant according to the service’s permissions. Managers can manage staff and work records. People should only upload content they are authorized to share.
Website Requests, Cookies, and Device Storage
Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, processes network information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP addresses, request times, browser information, and security events. Shared service operations also generate limited usage counts, error information, and access records used for reliability, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.
The app uses local storage for the demo and necessary session storage and sign-in cookies for shared access. These are used for functionality and security. We have not added advertising trackers or marketing analytics to the app. Browser settings can block or clear cookies and storage, but sign-in or saved demo features may then stop working. This notice also serves as our explanation of cookies and similar storage.
How Information Is Used and Shared
We use information to provide the service, remember settings, authenticate authorized users, show restaurant work to the appropriate team, protect the service, respond to support requests, and investigate errors or misuse. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
Cloudflare provides hosting, shared data and media storage, and shared sign-in infrastructure. Authorized HouseShift team members may access shared information when necessary for support, security, or operation. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service, or at your direction. Service-provider processing may occur in the United States or other countries where providers operate.
HouseShift does not currently offer AI-powered recommendations or send restaurant content to an AI model as part of the app’s functionality. We will explain any future AI processing before introducing it. External links lead to services with their own privacy practices.
Retention and Security
Local demo data stays until it is removed from that device, replaced, or cleared by browser or app settings. We cannot remotely retrieve or erase a local copy or an exported backup you hold.
Shared restaurant content and uploaded media are retained for the pilot and its operational and recovery needs until removed through supported controls or a request handled with the restaurant administrator. Historical work and recovery checkpoints can retain earlier content after a live record changes. Shared restaurant content is not currently subject to a blanket automatic deletion period. Temporary sign-in and operational records have shorter cleanup periods. We may retain information needed for legal obligations, security, or resolving disputes.
Shared access controls and authenticated media storage help protect information. No service or device is perfectly secure. Keep devices protected, use authorized accounts, and avoid uploading highly sensitive information.
Your Choices and Requests
You can choose whether to add optional photos and recordings, change or remove your current profile photo, and export local backups. Your device controls camera, microphone, and photo-library permissions. Removing a live item may not immediately remove historical or recovery copies.
For shared workplace information, ask your restaurant administrator about access, correction, export, or deletion. You can also contact the HouseShift team with a privacy request or concern. Depending on your location and the laws that apply, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, or appeal a request decision. We will verify requests as needed and explain any limits or required retention. We do not require unnecessary sensitive information to make a request.
Children and Changes to This Notice
HouseShift is intended for restaurant teams and is not directed to children under 13. Do not knowingly provide information about children under 13. Contact us if you believe such information has been provided so we can investigate and take appropriate steps.
We will update the date above when this notice changes. Material changes affecting an active shared pilot will be communicated through the service or the pilot’s contact channel.
